Originally conceived by Paco Rabanne in 1966 as part of his groundbreaking “12 Unwearable Dresses in Contemporary Materials” collection, this design revolutionized fashion through its use of industrial materials and hand-linked metal construction. Similar disc garments gained instant fame when worn by Audrey Hepburn in Two for the Road (1967) and Jane Fonda in Barbarella (1968), cementing the look as a defining symbol of space-age fashion.
The modern interpretation seen here is designed under Julien Dossena, who has revitalized the house’s heritage since 2013 by reintroducing these iconic pieces in contemporary form.
